Job Description
[Albemarle] is hiring for a [Logistics Specialist] . This position is [hybrid and located in [Tokyo], in-office and located in [Japan].
Speaking Chinese will be a big plus.
What You Will Do
- Own daily logistics execution in Japan, including shipment arrangement, warehouse coordination, and issue resolution
- Execute import, export, and domestic shipments
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers for booking, documentation, permit handling, and on-time delivery
- Handle customs-related activities including import clearance application, working closely with brokers to ensure smooth and compliant clearance
- Partner with Safety and GTC teams to ensure full compliance with domestic DG transportation regulations
- Support logistics handling for new and small-volume chemical products, with working knowledge of Fire Service Law and related regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with 3PL vendors, forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Maintain inventory accuracy and perform inventory-related operations, including transaction control and physical stock count support
- Handle EPA applications and support trade-related procedures
- Utilize SAP for shipment execution, inventory management, and operational data control
- Support monthly freight settlement and ensure accuracy of logistics data
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on logistics operations, issues, and performance to the manager
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Sales, Procurement, Compliance) and contribute as a reliable team player
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- 4+ years of hands-on logistics experience
- Experience handling DG shipments including regulatory compliance (Fire Service Law, Chemical regulations in Japan)
- Hands-on experience in customs clearance coordination and vendor management in Japan
- Good understanding of international trade and logistics processes
- Basic knowledge of EPA applications and trade-related procedures
- English — Business-level proficiency required (reading, writing, speaking)
- Japanese — Native or business-level proficiency required (reading, writing, speaking)
- Chinese (Mandarin) — Strong plus; conversational or above preferred
- Experience in inventory management and logistics operations in a corporate environment
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar systems
- Strong coordination and communication skills across functions
- Fluent in English (verbal)
- Candidate with experience in PowerPoint, Copilot, and data analysis. Hands-on experience is preferred.
- Practical experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or international logistics operations is highly preferred
