Summary

The Division of Investment Management's Analytics Office is seeking a SEC Fellow (Senior Financial Analyst). As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will apply deep industry and analytical expertise to complex data, operational, and policy issues affecting investment companies and advisers. Fellows provide advanced insight to support data analysis, rulemaking, examinations, investigations, disclosure review, and market monitoring, strengthening the Division's insight into evolving industry practices.

Duties

  • In this role as a Senior Financial Analyst Fellow, duties may include: Conducting advanced analytical studies on investment companies and investment advisers, evaluating regulatory filings and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and emerging issues. Providing expert financial, operational, and policy analysis to support IM leadership and cross-divisional initiatives, offering insight into developments within the asset management industry. Contributing to rulemaking efforts by researching industry practices, assessing potential regulatory impacts, and preparing analytical materials that inform proposed and final rules. Supporting examinations and enforcement consultations by analyzing fund and adviser data, identifying indicators of risk or potential non-compliance, and delivering subject-matter expertise. Assessing novel regulatory, operational, and market issues and develop well-reasoned recommendations to inform IM programs and policy decisions. Preparing high-quality written materials-including reports, briefs, presentations, and visual dashboards-that clearly communicate complex analytical findings to internal decision-makers. Collaborating with colleagues across IM and the Commission to enhance analytical tools, strengthen data processes, and support strategic and operational initiatives within the Analytics Office.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: SK-16: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-14 level: Providing guidance on financial or operational issues in the asset management industry, AND Conducting advanced analysis of industry data, trends, or risks with the ability to translate that analysis into support for policy development, examinations, market monitoring, or other program priorities; AND Communicating findings to inform senior staff or cross-divisional decision-making. ACCOMPLISHMENT RECORD COMPETENCIES: Your Accomplishment Record narratives should address the following competencies. Evaluations

You will be evaluated for this position based on how well you meet the qualifications listed in this announcement.
