Role Summary

The SEO Strategist supports the execution of M-Files' organic growth, search, and AI optimization strategy by implementing SEO best practices, maintaining, auditing, optimizing website content, and assisting with technical SEO initiatives. Working closely with the VP of Product Marketing, SEO Strategist, Website Manager, and Product Marketing team, this role focuses on improving content discoverability across traditional search engines and AI-powered search experiences.


Key Responsibilities

SEO Content & On-Page Optimization (approx. 60–70%)

  • Implement on-page SEO recommendations, including title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, image alt text, internal linking, and URL optimization
  • Optimize existing website pages, blog posts, landing pages, and solution pages for target keywords and search intent
  • Publish and maintain SEO-focused content, including pillar pages, competitor comparison pages, and blog content
  • Conduct routine content audits to identify optimization opportunities and ensure content aligns with SEO best practices
  • Support AI optimization initiatives by implementing structured content, optimizing for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and maintaining AI visibility assets such as llms.txt

SEO Monitoring & Website Quality Assurance (approx. 15–20%)

  • Monitor website health using SEO tools such as BrightEdge, NPD, Google Search Console and Semrush to identify SEO issues and opportunities
  • Identify and resolve basic website issues that impact SEO, including broken links, missing metadata, image issues, and content discrepancies
  • Track keyword rankings, organic traffic, and page performance, escalating technical issues to the SEO Strategist or Website Manager as needed
  • Perform regular SEO quality assurance checks to ensure new content follows established SEO and AI optimization standards

Marketing Team Support (approx. 15–20%)

  • Collaborate with digital marketing, and product marketing teams to develop competitive content, FAQs, and messaging that improves click-through rates across website banners, paid search, AI search advertising, and other campaign placements
  • Assist with competitor research, keyword research, content audits, and content optimization projects as directed by the SEO Strategist

What Success Looks Like

  • SEO recommendations are implemented accurately and on schedule across the website
  • Website content consistently follows SEO, AEO, and AI optimization best practices
  • SEO-related website issues are identified and resolved quickly, while technical issues are escalated appropriately
  • Search visibility and AI discoverability improve through consistent implementation of SEO, AEO, and AI optimization best practices
  • 5-Phase approach to customer journey mapping implemented across the site
  • The SEO Strategist can rely on this role to independently execute day-to-day SEO activities, enabling greater focus on strategy, innovation, and long-term growth initiatives

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of SEO Strategy and execution experience optimizing large site maps with a proven understanding of SEO fundamentals, including keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking, and search intent
  • Familiarity with BrightEdge, NPD, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO tools
  • Experience working with a CMS such as WordPress, Contentful, or a similar platform
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and browser developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools) for content troubleshooting, validation, and QA
  • Familiarity with AI search trends, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and generative AI visibility best practices
  • Familiarity with keyword research, search intent analysis, and content optimization methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across marketing teams
