We are an established San Diego-based biotech company that provides primary cell cultures, specialized media, and research tools to life science researchers worldwide. Our products support biomedical research, drug discovery, and advances in understanding human disease.


The Shipping & Receiving Manager is an essential member of our operations team, responsible for ensuring accurate preparation, documentation, and timely delivery of biological research products to customers worldwide.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Retrieve cryovials from liquid nitrogen tanks and media/reagents from cold storage according to shipping lists.
  • Prepare domestic and international biological shipments, including cryopreserved cells shipped on dry ice and media/reagents shipped under appropriate temperature conditions.
  • Retrieve product instructions, certificates, and other required documents for inclusion with shipments.
  • Generate domestic and international FedEx and other courier shipping air waybills.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials, including boxes, dry ice, blue ice, and liquid nitrogen. Place orders when necessary.
  • Monitor liquid nitrogen levels and fill tanks as needed.
  • Communicate with USDA, customs brokers, couriers, distributors, and customers to resolve shipping requirements and ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of customer orders and shipments.
  • Update and maintain logistics protocols.
  • Support front office staff, including answering calls and emails during coverage gaps.
  • Assist with general office and laboratory operational tasks, including organization, supplies, and facility upkeep.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with shipping, logistics, inventory, or operational process management preferred.
  • Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • High integrity and commitment to accurate handling of customer orders and company materials.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with FedEx software, online shipping platforms, and courier systems.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Comfortable working with liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and temperature-controlled shipments.
  • Basic mechanical skills and comfort using hand tools.
  • Experience with biological materials, laboratory supplies, or regulated shipments is preferred but not required.
