Material Planner

Working closely with procurement, production, and warehousing teams, you will plan, track, and coordinate materials across the build lifecycle minimising delays, reducing shortages, and supporting on-time project delivery.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain material plans aligned to production schedules
- Ensure timely availability of materials to support shipbuilding activities
- Monitor inventory levels, shortages, and upcoming demand
- Coordinate with procurement to expedite critical items
- Track material status from order through to delivery and issue to production
- Work closely with production teams to prioritise and sequence material requirements
- Identify risks and implement solutions to prevent delays or disruptions
- Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems
- Experience in material planning, supply chain, or logistics (ideally in shipbuilding, construction, manufacturing, or heavy industry)
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to interpret production schedules and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Strong organisational and critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills Previous experience in Defence or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of shipbuilding or heavy fabrication processes
- APICS or supply chain certification (or similar)
- Experience with inventory optimisation and demand planning
