Job responsibilities
- Prepare and submit the necessary documentation required for customs clearance.
- Determine the appropriate tariff classification.
- Calculate and manage the payment of import duties, taxes, and other applicable fees.
- Stay up to date with changes in customs laws.
- Facilitate the customs clearance process.
- Identify and address potential risks.
- Maintain accurate records of customs-related transactions.
- Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to provide updates on customs status.
- Advise clients on trade regulations, compliance requirements, and strategies for optimizing customs procedures.
- Resolve customs-related issues that may arise.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically the minimum requirement.
- Minimum 2 years work experience as Customs Broker.
- Customs Broker License, which requires passing a qualifying exam administered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the United States.
- License issued by the CBP.
- Prior experience in customs brokerage or international trade can be advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of customs laws and regulations, including tariff classification, import/export compliance, and trade agreements.
- A focus on meeting customer needs and ensuring satisfaction with timely and accurate deliveries.
