Duties
- Pick up delivery tickets from the dispatcher to start your day.
- Pull, stage, and load building materials based on delivery tickets — accuracy matters.
- Check incoming vendor trucks to make sure they’re delivering to Doug Ashy and that everything matches the paperwork.
- Unload vendor deliveries and place materials in the correct yard location.
- Keep an eye on yard security and report any suspicious activity or theft.
- Perform daily safety checks on forklifts and complete simple maintenance logs.
- Keep up with staging records and report any inventory issues to the dispatcher.
- Jump in to help customers when needed — we’re all one team here.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.
- At least 1 year of experience in the building materials industry required.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift; certification preferred.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude.
- Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Available to work every other Saturday (half-day) or as needed.
