Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Marine Surveyor role based in İstanbul, Türkiye. The Marine Surveyor will carry out inspections and surveys of vessels, cargo, and marine structures to assess condition, compliance, and risk, preparing clear and timely technical reports for clients. Daily responsibilities include attending vessels in port or shipyards, collecting and analyzing technical data, documenting findings with photographs and measurements, and liaising with shipowners, charterers, underwriters, and P&I clubs. The role also involves supporting claims handling, contributing to risk assessments and consultancy assignments, and, when required, assisting with expert testimony and technical opinions. The Marine Surveyor will be expected to travel within Türkiye and occasionally abroad, working flexibly to respond to urgent client instructions.
Qualifications
- Strong Inspection skills, including conducting onboard inspections, assessing structural and mechanical condition, and documenting findings accurately.
- Proven experience in Marine Survey activities, such as hull and machinery surveys, damage surveys, cargo surveys, and risk assessments.
- Solid understanding of the Marine Industry, including shipping operations, marine insurance practices, and relevant international regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of Vessel Operations, covering shipboard systems, cargo handling, maintenance practices, and port/shipyard procedures.
- Background in Naval Architecture or marine engineering, with the ability to interpret plans, stability data, and technical specifications.
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages (especially Turkish and/or Greek) are an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing abilities, with attention to detail and clarity in technical communication.
- Ability to work independently in the field, manage multiple assignments, and adapt to changing schedules and environments.
