Our Evansville Logistics team has an opening for aShipping Clerk - International! This role will assist the coordination of daily domestic and international shipping functions in the Logistics Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist Coordination of Inventory/Materials
- Place orders (purchase requisitions) to obtain an adequate supply of shipping and receiving materials.
- Maintain knowledge of proper packaging methods.
- Maintain knowledge of most common shipping and receiving equipment.
- Obtain and maintain certification as a FLANDERS certified fork truck operator.
- Assist management with developing agreements with freight carriers and monitoring their performance.
- Make arrangements for pick-up by the specified carrier(s) of all domestic outbound shipments. Make arrangements for pick-up of international outbound shipments as needed.
- Complete all commercial documents for international shipments.
- Complete Bill-of-Lading forms.
- Maintain knowledge of various forms and software used and required by freight, international, and parcel carriers.
- Complete all appropriate internal and external documentation for proper shipping procedure.
- Provide proof of deliveries to the invoicing department as required.
- Complete freight requisitions as required.
- Package product appropriately for shipment.
- Load trucks for shipment.
- Assist the Shipping and Receiving Assistant(s) as needed in all areas.
- Promote teamwork by exhibiting positive teamwork with employees.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in shipping
- Knowledge of shipping procedures
- International shipping experience required
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Office software
- Ability to remain calm under time sensitive situations
- Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division including understanding fractions and percentages
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions
- Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards
