Production & Logistics Engineer
Indexed description
Company Description
Pi Imaging Technology, a ZEISS company, is transforming how light is detected by developing photon-counting arrays with extremely high sensitivity and low noise. The company’s solutions enable partners to build innovative products used in cutting-edge science, life sciences, and quantum information applications. Its core technology is based on single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) designed and manufactured using standard semiconductor processes. This approach supports megapixel-resolution photon-counting arrays with flexible, adaptable architectures, offering a dynamic environment for engineering and production professionals.
About the role
Pi Imaging Technology is looking for a Production & Logistics Engineer to support the manufacturing, testing, repair, and shipment of our SPAD detector systems. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role positioned at the interface of system assembly, quality control, service case handling, and logistics.
The successful candidate will help ensure that finished systems are assembled, characterized, documented, shipped, and, when needed, returned and repaired in a structured and efficient way. This role is well suited for someone who combines technical understanding with a pragmatic and hands-on operational mindset and strong attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
Manufacturing, testing, and repair:
- Assemble SPAD detector systems and related subassemblies according to work instructions and quality standards
- Perform system characterization, functional checks, first-level diagnostics, and troubleshooting
- Support repair, rework, and revalidation activities
- Record production results, test outcomes, repair actions, root-cause observations, and traceability information
- Maintain testing equipment, tools, and organized workstations
- Improve assembly, testing, diagnostics, and repair processes
Order and service case logistics:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound order and service cases shipments
- Prepare finished, returned, and repaired systems for shipment, including packaging and readiness checks
- Prepare and maintain export, shipping, and related documentation
- Support customer communication regarding deliveries, returns, repairs, and shipments
- Ensure effective handover between production, sales, logistics, and technical teams
Operations and process improvement.
- Support cross-functional projects and other operations topics
- Maintain organized inventory and accurate records
- Improve documentation, process robustness, and operational efficiency
- Help develop scalable workflows for low-volume, high-technology manufacturing
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or repair of technical products
- Basic Python programming knowledge
- Ability to combine technical and administrative responsibilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency with standard digital tools, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Basic understanding of electronics, PCB-based systems, and optical setups
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with optoelectronics, photonics, sensors, cameras, detector systems, or semiconductor-based products
- Familiarity with SPAD detectors, imaging systems, or scientific instrumentation
- Experience with quality control, test documentation, and production traceability
- Knowledge of export documentation and international logistics
- Experience with return service processes, failure analysis and repair
- Practical experience with electronics, 3D printing or optics DIY projects, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, or related platforms
What we offer
- The opportunity to work with advanced SPAD detector technology
- A hands-on role with broad responsibility across manufacturing and operations
- Collaboration with a highly skilled, growing and international team
- The opportunity to contribute to innovative imaging solutions and grow professionally as part of ZEISS
