Travel Lift Operator

The bottom painter and Travel Lift Operator safely hauls, launches, and transports boats using hydraulic travel lifts and forklifts, while positioning boats in the yard for storage or service and takes care of yard duties such as bottom painting, sanding, prepping. Key duties include operating heavy machinery, placing straps/stands, pressure washing, and maintaining a clean, organized marina facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Boat Handling: Operate travel lifts, hydraulic trailers, and forklifts to move vessels of various sizes.
- Yard Operations: Properly place blocks, jack stands, and slings to secure vessels, minimizing risks to vessels and staff.
- Customer Service/Support: Safely wash, block, and stage boats, wax, sand, paint boats and working closely with the yard manager and service department.
- Safety & Compliance: Monitor weather, tidal conditions, and weight limits to ensure safe operations.
- Experience: Proven experience operating marine travel lifts, boat hydraulic trailers, or forklifts is typically required.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand/work outside for long periods in varied weather.
- Skills: Strong communication for signaling, spatial awareness for maneuvering vessels, and attention to detail for safety.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is usually preferred.
- This is a physically demanding, fast-paced outdoor job that requires working in all weather conditions, including sun, wind, and rain.
