Vessel Charter Engineer
Indexed description
- voyage charters, through which we transport large volumes of cargo to and from our projects worldwide
- time charters, where we hire specialized vessels that provide assistance to our large dredging and installation ships throughout the project
- T&I transports for our offshore projects, where we collect offshore components from suppliers and deliver them to our offshore sites
As a Vessel Charter Buyer, you will be involved during the tender phase in developing project solutions at an early stage. After project award, you will turn the proposed project solutions into reality through price requests, internal project coordination, and ultimately the negotiation of (BIMCO) contracts. Once your subcontractor has been appointed, you will work together with the project team to ensure flawless execution in accordance with the agreed (contractual) terms. A practical understanding of the scope of work and the course of the project is crucial in order to proactively tackle potential issues.
Your greatest strengths — and at the same time your key responsibilities — are:
- Analyzing complex and extensive transport files with strong attention to detail;
- Integrating and proactively anticipating transport-related technical restrictions in order to submit and defend a realistic transport proposal;
- Commercially leveraging different transport suppliers against one another;
- Drafting and negotiating legal clauses in (BIMCO) contracts;
- Monitoring contractual deadlines;
- Daily follow-up of ongoing contracts.
As a Vessel Charter Buyer, you are a communicative colleague who highly values a structured and organized approach. You are highly accurate, capable of working with deadlines, and possess a strong commercial mindset that supports the establishment of contractual agreements.
In terms of education, you hold at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field. A technical and/or nautical background is considered an advantage, and several years of experience in project-related maritime logistics is a plus.
You are fluent in English and are comfortable with providing on-site follow-up or making short business trips.
