Boston Whaler Trim and Grind I (Night Shift)

- Drills Holes and Trims & Grinds molded fiberglass hulls to specifications using appropriate templates, jigs and fixtures.
- Follows daily production of Trim & Grind/Hole Drilling in accordance with the master production schedule and other departments.
- Operates and maintains tools and equipment such as: drills, 4” & 2” Diamond Wheel Grinders, and 2”, 5” & 8” grinders.
- Uses a variety of hand and power/air tools, saws, grinders and other tools as necessary
- Locating parts by hand or utilizing detail blueprints, standard work, tools, and/or fixtures
- Works following specific job instructions, frequently reading and providing verbal and/or written status of part completion
- Accurately maintains all Hole Drilling/Trim & Grind records.
- Performing all Hole Drilling/Trim & Grind operations.
- Performs housekeeping and maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements will include full face respirators, hearing protection, gloves, and protective suits. Requires no facial hair around area where respirator mask fits to face
- Must always follow all safety and quality standards, including chemical handling standards and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect
- Basic skills in forklift, overhead hoist, and computer skills preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Experience using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions
- Shop floor working environment.
- Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels.
- Frequent exposure to high-temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months.
- Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikes
- Required to wear safety glasses, and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.
- Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Typically, this position works a 4 – 10 hour a day work week.
- *Overtime may be required based on scheduling needs. Boston Whaler reserves the right to adjust shifts and work times as business needs evolve.
- *An hourly premium shift differential is available for employees working night shift.
