About the Company


At Folk Maritime, we are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Maritime Network Manager to lead the optimization of our shipping network, develop strategic partnerships, and drive network performance across our operations. The role is responsible for network planning, capacity optimization, partnership management, commercial analysis, and identifying growth opportunities that enhance profitability, service coverage, and overall network competitiveness. The position will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to shape network strategy and ensure effective execution.


About the Role

The Maritime Network Manager will be responsible for leading the optimization of our shipping network and developing strategic partnerships.


Responsibilities

  • Lead network planning and capacity optimization efforts to maximize slot utilization, operational efficiency, and commercial performance.
  • Develop and manage relationships with Main Line Operators (MLOs), feeder operators, and other strategic partners to expand network reach and strengthen commercial cooperation.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage Vessel Sharing Agreements (VSAs), slot-sharing agreements, and other partnership arrangements.
  • Oversee the implementation, governance, and periodic review of operational agreements and commercial contracts.
  • Lead business case development, feasibility assessments, and network performance reviews to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor market dynamics, competitor network developments, and trade trends to identify growth opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Drive initiatives to improve network profitability through capacity management, cost optimization, and revenue enhancement strategies.
  • Oversee slot-related costs, invoicing accuracy, and commercial settlement processes while ensuring appropriate financial controls.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on network deployment, partnership opportunities, and expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Trade, Marine, Operations, Finance, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment between network strategy and execution.
  • Establish performance metrics and monitor key network KPIs to ensure continuous improvement and achievement of business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide analysts or junior team members while promoting analytical rigor and commercial excellence within the team.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in container shipping, liner shipping, network planning, trade management, capacity management, or commercial shipping, including experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.


Required Skills

  • Strong experience managing Vessel Sharing Agreements (VSAs), slot-sharing arrangements, strategic partnerships, and network optimization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Strong commercial acumen with advanced analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with BI and analytics tools is an advantage.
  • In-depth understanding of vessel operations, shipping economics, network design, and trade dynamics.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with BI and analytics tools.
