The Vacancy

We are looking for a customer-focused Freight Forwarder to join our team in Kildare. This is a great opportunity for someone with European road freight experience to coordinate import shipments and deliver excellent service to customers.

In this role, you will manage the end-to-end movement of road freight, working closely with carriers, overseas partners, customers, and internal teams to ensure shipments are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and on time. This is a fast-paced position that requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end operation of European road freight import shipments.
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and internal departments to ensure the timely movement of freight.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage any delays, exceptions, or service issues.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment records within company systems.
• Ensure all operational activities comply with company procedures, transport regulations, and customer requirements.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and manage customer expectations effectively.
• Monitor costs and profitability, ensuring services are delivered in a commercially responsible manner.
• Negotiate rates and service requirements with carriers and suppliers when required.
• Provide customers and stakeholders with regular updates on shipment status and operational performance.
• Identify opportunities to promote additional services and support business growth.
• Escalate operational or commercial concerns promptly and appropriately.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies across the department.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience within European road freight forwarding, ideally with import operations experience. Candidates with a background in sea or air freight and some road freight exposure will also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of road freight processes, regulations, and freight forwarding operations.
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of costs, margins, and profitability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Experience working with freight forwarding systems and operational platforms.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with customers, carriers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• A self-motivated and adaptable approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to compliance, continuous improvement, and delivering service excellence.
