Shipping Specialist I

DEPARTMENT: Shipping

REPORTS TO: Manager, Warehouse

HOURS/SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:00a-3:30p (overtime as needed)

HOURLY/SALARY STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Shipping Specialist I is responsible for staging and palletizing materials for shipment, loading and unloading trailers, maintaining inventory records, and verifying quantities of materials received against shipping documents.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pick items for orders and complete shipping documents as needed
• Load and unload trailers as they arrive at the facility
• Stage materials and pallets for shipments
• Inspect product as it arrives and report any problems to Quality
• Anticipate and support company needs including staging work in advance when possible, to reduce downtime
• Maintain warehouse, keeping material neat and accessible and inventory accurate
• Support 6S efforts, removing trash and recyclables as necessary
• Participate in idea implementation initiatives with team
• Maintain high level of safety at all times

• Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

• Team player with the ability to maintain good working relations with internal teams
• Strong attention to detail
• Process improvement ability
• Strong computer skills
• Experience with IFS ERP system is preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Fork truck operators license, permit or the ability to obtain one
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities are shifting regularly

• Able to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hrs. per day
• Ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb or reach frequently throughout the day
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
• Ability to work in all weather conditions

Hussey Seating Company uses a market-based approach to compensation. The anticipated starting range for this position is $22.95 to $28.05 per hour. Individual compensation is determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, and the responsibilities of the position.
