Capacity Agent

A well-known transportation and logistics company is looking for a capacity agent in Barcelona

As a Capacity agent, you are responsible for securing the right transport capacity at the right price and time to ensure customer shipments are delivered efficiently, reliably, and profitably. You act as the primary link between carriers, operational teams, and customers, ensuring that transportation capacity is available to meet customer requirements while maintaining strong commercial performance. This role requires extensive knowledge of road transportation in Europe, strong negotiation skills, market awareness, operational excellence, and relationship management. You will continuously monitor transport markets, identify capacity opportunities, resolve transportation challenges, and contribute to achieving both operational and commercial objectives. Success in this role means maintaining a reliable carrier network, securing competitive rates, proactively addressing capacity shortages, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while supporting the company's growth strategy

Responsabilities:

Operational Management

* Search for available carriers and transport capacity for customer shipments.
* Match shipment requirements with the most suitable available transport capacity.
* Negotiate transport rates, terms, and conditions with carriers to achieve competitive pricing and service quality.
* Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with carriers and transport partners.
* Expand and continuously optimize the carrier network to increase capacity availability and flexibility.
* Evaluate carrier performance and support carrier onboarding activities

Market Intelligence & Commercial Activities

* Monitor freight market trends, capacity developments, freight rates, and surcharges.
* React proactively to market shortages, disruptions, and capacity constraints.
* Identify opportunities for margin improvement through effective carrier sourcing and rate negotiations.
* Support commercial initiatives through upselling opportunities and transportation solutions.
* Provide market insights and pricing recommendations to operational and commercial teams.

Operational Support

* Support operational teams in securing transport solutions for customer shipments.
* Ensure all transport agreements and booking information are accurately recorded in relevant systems.
* Resolve transportation issues including delays, refusals, service failures, and last minute cancellations.
* Manage escalations professionally and provide timely solutions to minimize operational impact.
* Maintain proactive communication with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status and capacity availability.

Team Participation

* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share market knowledge with colleagues.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Qualifications and experience:

* Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in road transportation, freight brokerage, carrier procurement, or capacity management. Proven experience in both Full Truckload (FTL) and Less-than-Truckload (LTL) transportation. Strong understanding of transportation operations, carrier management, and freight procurement.

* Client and carrier management: Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and carriers, ensuring effective communication and resolving operational issues to meet service quality standards.

* Technical skills: Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Freight dashboards and reporting tools. Capacity forecasting tools. Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

* Languages: English fluency, with strong verbal and written communication skills to support clear interactions across teams, clients,
