ASSISTANT DOCKMASTER

A Leading Shipbuilding Company in Abu Dhabi is looking for an Assistant Dockmaster to support safe and efficient docking operations within our shipyard environment.

The role will support vessel-data review, dock-readiness activities, crew coordination and vessel movements, while ensuring all assigned activities are carried out in line with operational instructions and safety requirements.

Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, practical marine or docking experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively with docking crews and the Dockmaster during vessel movements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vessel-data review, docking checklists and dock-readiness inspections.
• Verify blocks, lines, access arrangements, services and assigned equipment against approved instructions.
• Coordinate assigned docking crews and communicate operational status to the Dockmaster.
• Monitor vessel position, clearances and dock conditions during vessel movements.
• Report deviations immediately and act within delegated instructions.
• Maintain movement records, checklists and post-operation observations.
• Participate in drills, operational reviews and competency development activities.
• Support safe and efficient docking activities in accordance with established procedures and operational requirements.
• Be capable of independently handling docking activities in the absence of the Dockmaster, within delegated authority and approved procedures

Qualifications

• Relevant marine diploma, deck qualification or technical education.
• Minimum 3–5 years of marine, docking or shipyard experience.
• Basic knowledge of dock plans, vessel particulars and line-handling activities.
• Hands-on experience with floating dock operations is required.
• Ability to work shifts and support vessel movements as operationally required.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Strong awareness of safety and operational discipline.
