What You'll Do
- Build, optimize, validate, and maintain CNC manufacturing software including custom post-processors and virtual machining simulators (collision avoidance).
- Collaborate with numerical control programmers, machinists, production personnel, engineers, and maintenance teams.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for the Operational Technology (OT) network, associated servers, PCs, and general network system connectivity.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for Smart Factory initiatives, system integration projects, CNC machine installs, and CNC machine retrofits.
- Provide IT representation in daily production meetings.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
- OR Master’s degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
- Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- Due to the nature of this work, the successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance.
- Active DOE ‘Q’ or equivalent DoD ‘TS’ clearance.
- Experience with CNC machining methods (multi-axis) and editing/troubleshooting G-Code and M-Code.
- Exposure to automation, probing, on-machine inspection.
- Experience in aerospace, medical, or precision manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards and blueprint reading.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software tools (e.g. PTC CREO, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM, Austin NC, etc.).
- Experience with CNC collision avoidance simulation software (e.g., CGTech's Vericut, Mastercam, NCSIMUL, Fusion 360, CIMCO, etc.).
- Experience with CNC post-processor development (e.g., ICAM Campost, Mastercam, Siemens NX CAM, Esprit, PowerMill, etc.).
- Experience with a text-based programming language.
- Experience writing scripts in PowerShell or Command Line.
- General understanding of CNC machine networking and Server infrastructure.
- Strong Windows PC troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated success in a team environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
This position may be categorized as a “designated position” identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709, requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
