At Samsung AI Centre Cambridge, we're developing the next generation of intelligent systems that power AI experiences across millions of Samsung devices worldwide.
Our team combines world-class research with real-world impact, creating state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and systems that are efficient enough to run directly on consumer devices. From on-device Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs) to world models, adaptive inference, and mobile AI systems, we're tackling some of the most exciting challenges in modern AI.
We're looking for a Research Scientist who is passionate about advancing machine learning research while helping bring breakthrough innovations to Samsung products.
What You'll Do
As a Research Scientist, you'll contribute to cutting-edge research that bridges foundational AI and practical deployment.
You'll:
- Research and develop world models that enable AI agents to understand, simulate, and reason about complex environments.
- Design and execute experiments at the frontier of machine learning and model-based AI.
- Develop novel algorithms for efficient AI, including on-device LLMs, VLMs, and adaptive inference.
- Collaborate with researchers and product engineering teams to translate research into commercial technologies.
- Publish at leading international conferences and contribute to patent applications.
- Help shape the future research agenda of Samsung AI Centre Cambridge.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
- A PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Experience developing efficient ML techniques, including quantization, pruning, distillation, sparsification, or model optimisation.
- Experience deploying AI models on embedded or mobile devices.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++, with experience working in Linux environments.
- Experience with distributed or multi-GPU training.
- A strong publication record at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, MLSys, MobiCom, MobiSys, or ICCAD.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with Generative AI, multimodal models, Android, or real-world mobile deployment is an advantage, but not essential.
