🤝 Seeking a Research / Applied ML Cofounder — PlainHand (Equity Only, No Salary)

PlainHand is building the sensing and intent architecture for the next generation of dexterous robotic manipulation. We are early, evidence-first, and deliberately rigorous about what we claim and when we claim it.

We are not hiring an employee. We are looking for a cofounder to own a structured, preregistered research program in multimodal robot learning, working with public robotics and manipulation datasets before any custom simulation or physical build.

What you would own:

• Evaluating and validating public multimodal manipulation datasets for use in early-stage research

• Designing and running rigorous, preregistered offline learning experiments with proper baselines, statistical controls, and reproducibility standards

• Building the measurement and reporting discipline that keeps every claim traceable to verified data, not assumption

• Testing whether early-stage findings generalize across model architectures

This is careful, self-checked research work. If a claim cannot be verified, it gets removed rather than patched over. If that discipline excites you rather than slows you down, this is your kind of team.

Who this is for:

• You have real experience with multimodal learning, representation learning, or robot learning research, ideally with hands-on dataset and reproducibility work

• You can work independently against a specification and hold yourself to preregistered success conditions

• You want equity and ownership, not a paycheck, at this stage

Terms, stated plainly:

• This is an equity-only cofounder role. There is no salary at this stage.

• PlainHand cannot sponsor visas right now. If you would need visa sponsorship to work on this, please do not apply.

• This is not a 40-hour-a-week role. If you have existing time commitments that would keep you from giving this real, sustained effort, please do not apply.
