Physics AI Engineer – CAE/CAD
Indexed description
We are seeking a Physics AI Engineer to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, physical modelling, engineering simulation, and computer-aided engineering and design.
This role will focus on applying AI to complex engineering problems, improving how physical systems are modelled, simulated, analysed, and designed. You will connect physics-based engineering methods with data-driven and machine-learning approaches, helping to develop intelligent tools and workflows for CAE and CAD environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI-driven approaches for physics and engineering applications.
- Combine machine-learning techniques with physics-based models and simulation data.
- Work with CAE and CAD workflows to support engineering analysis, design, and optimisation.
- Explore ways to accelerate, approximate, or enhance computationally intensive simulations using AI.
- Build models that respect physical behaviour, engineering constraints, and real-world operating conditions.
- Analyse simulation and engineering data to identify patterns, improve predictions, and guide design decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, simulation, software, and AI specialists.
- Evaluate model accuracy, robustness, generalisation, and physical consistency.
- Help translate research concepts into practical engineering capabilities.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both AI and engineering stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
You will bring experience or strong applied knowledge across several of the following areas:
- Physics-based modelling and applied mathematics.
- Engineering simulation and numerical methods.
- CAE or CAD tools and workflows.
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Working with simulation-generated or engineering data.
- Connecting data-driven models with physical systems.
- Engineering design, analysis, or optimisation.
- Developing and validating technical models.
The strongest candidates will be comfortable moving between physics, engineering, simulation, and AI rather than working within only one discipline. You should be able to understand the physical meaning behind engineering data and assess whether an AI model produces credible, useful results.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to contribute to an emerging area where AI can reshape engineering simulation and product development. You will work on technically challenging problems with the potential to make CAE and CAD processes faster, smarter, and more effective.
