Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Business Smart Power Division in Hyderabad, India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- You will research the latest advancements in data analytics and AI within embedded systems, and design develop and implement proof-of-concept prototypes.
- You perform unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to ensure software quality and functionality.
- You will be responsible for documenting your work, sharing your findings, and assisting teams in integrating the outcomes of your efforts into their products.
- You contribute to discussions of intellectual property and secure patent rights for ABB by driving the IP creation.
- You monitor technology developments and technologies to identify technical drivers for R&D projects, supported by your thorough understanding of key business drivers for ABB’s products and solutions.
- You participate in internal and external networks to expand your knowledge of your area of expertise.
- You take responsibility for firmware development activities, including risk identification, alignment with targets, and close coordination with suppliers and other functions (e.g. product management).
- PhD or M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronic, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or comparable field with 4 years of hands on experience and must have seen at least 2 project cycles.
- Proficiency in C/C++/Python/MATLAB and knowledge of TensorFlow/Rust backed by solid computer science fundamentals.
- Working experience of predictive maintenance and ML algorithms, covering both classical approaches (signal processing, anomaly detection) and deep learning techniques suited for embedded/edge environments.
- Confident handling of development infrastructure: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (git), lifecycle management, build systems, unit testing, debug probes, logic analyzers and similar tools.
- Solid knowledge in structured development processes, ranging from requirement analysis, design, and implementation to test and documentation.
- A solution-focused approach as well as strong written and spoken communication skills.
