Technical Lead – Robotics | Munich

Help build the robotics platform from the ground up — and lead the engineers building it.

We’re working with one of Munich’s most exciting early-stage robotics companies as they build a world-class engineering team around an ambitious new robotics platform.

They’re now looking for a Technical Lead – Robotics.

This isn’t a traditional management position. They want someone who is technically exceptional, still loves engineering, and wants real influence over architecture, technology and the direction of the robotics platform.

You’ll work alongside experienced robotics engineers across manipulation, perception, control systems and robotics software, helping bring those disciplines together into one scalable platform.

What you'll own

  • Technical direction and architecture of complex robotics systems
  • High-performance software for robot control, teleoperation and telepresence
  • Scalable robotics software infrastructure built around ROS2
  • Technical leadership across manipulation, perception and control
  • Architecture decisions across hardware and software boundaries
  • Simulation and testing infrastructure for validating robotic behaviours
  • Performance, reliability and scalability as systems move from prototypes to real-world deployment
  • Technical mentoring of Senior Robotics Engineers
  • Engineering standards and best practices as the team grows
  • Close collaboration with research, hardware and product teams

And importantly: you’ll still be technical.

This is for someone who wants to lead through engineering, architecture and technical credibility — not spend their entire week in meetings.

The environment

You’ll be working across technologies including:

Python | C++ | ROS2 | Bazel | Isaac Sim | MuJoCo | Newton | Computer Vision | Sensor Fusion | State Estimation | Model-Based Control | Robot Learning

You don't need to be the world's best engineer in every part of that stack.

What matters is that you're deep in robotics, exceptional in at least one of manipulation, perception or control, and broad enough to understand how the entire system fits together.

You might currently be a:

Technical Lead, Staff Robotics Engineer, Principal Robotics Engineer, Robotics Architect, Lead Robotics Engineer or an exceptional Senior Robotics Engineer ready for the next step.

We're particularly interested if you've:

  • Built and deployed complex robotic systems on real hardware
  • Designed robotics software architecture rather than only individual features
  • Worked extensively with ROS/ROS2
  • Taken robotics systems from impressive prototypes to reliable production systems
  • Mentored or technically led strong engineers
  • Made architectural decisions across perception, planning, control and hardware
  • Worked in fast-moving environments where there isn't always a blueprint

Why this one is different

This is an opportunity to join early enough that your decisions genuinely matter.

You'll have the chance to influence how the robotics platform is built, establish engineering standards, shape the technical roadmap and help build the team around you.

If you're already a strong robotics leader, there's significant room to increase your impact as the organisation scales.
