Join an innovative engineering team developing advanced white light interferometry solutions for semiconductor, optics, and precision manufacturing applications. Our measurement technologies enable high-resolution surface characterisation, supporting the development and production of next-generation components where accuracy at the nanometre scale is critical.
As a White Light Interferometry Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, optimising, and validating advanced optical measurement systems. Working across optics, hardware, software, and application engineering, you will help improve measurement accuracy, system performance, and customer application capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise white light interferometry measurement systems for precision surface analysis.
- Characterise surface topography, roughness, step heights, and critical surface features.
- Analyse measurement data to improve accuracy, repeatability, and system performance.
- Support calibration, alignment, and optimisation of interferometric measurement systems.
- Investigate measurement challenges and contribute to technical improvements.
- Develop and validate measurement procedures for advanced manufacturing applications.
- Collaborate with optics, software, mechanical engineering, and R&D teams to deliver innovative metrology solutions.
- Support customer applications, system demonstrations, and technical investigations where required.
Requirements
- Experience with white light interferometry, optical profilometry, or advanced optical measurement techniques.
- Strong background in optical metrology, precision measurement, or photonics.
- Experience analysing surface measurements and interpreting complex measurement data.
- Knowledge of interferometric principles, optical systems, and measurement uncertainty.
- Experience within semiconductor, optics, precision engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to technical challenges.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with optical alignment, calibration, and system characterisation.
- Knowledge of image processing, data analysis, or measurement automation.
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar technical computing environments.
- Familiarity with surface metrology standards and precision manufacturing processes.
