Indexed description

Schwarz Digits creates the technological foundation for digital sovereignty in Europe. As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Production and PreZero. At the same time, we operate as an independent provider in the external market to support companies across Europe in their digital transformation. We bundle our core services in the areas of Cloud, Cyber Security, Data & AI, Communication, and Workspace.

About the Role

Bring intelligence to our IoT data streams! Whether stopping energy waste in stores or predicting machine failures through Predictive Maintenance, you develop the algorithms that spot critical patterns hidden within noisy sensor signals. You will work closely with our engineering teams across Heilbronn, Bucharest, and Sofia to run your anomaly detection models directly on scalable streaming architectures.

Our Technological Vision

Building and operating our central AI Anomaly Detection Engine. We rely on clean software architectures (Clean Architecture), scalable cloud systems, and cutting-edge data streaming technologies such as Kafka, PySpark, and MQTT to process high-volume time-series data in real time. For us, code is not just a means to an end, but the most powerful tool to actively shape our core business.

The Impact You Will Create

  • Model Development: You design and build state-of-the-art Anomaly Detection models (unsupervised & supervised learning) and Time-Series Forecasting algorithms for large-scale IoT sensor data.
  • Feature Engineering: You extract meaningful features and signals from raw sensor metrics, telemetry, and monitoring logs.
  • Production Coding: You write clean, production-ready Python code and collaborate with engineering to deploy models into cloud environments and real-time streaming architectures.
  • Data Preprocessing: You develop robust strategies for cleaning and preprocessing high-volume streaming data before it enters the ML pipelines.
  • Model Observability: You monitor not only the systems but also your models, ensuring high prediction quality, stability, and drift detection under changing operational conditions.

Experience and Skills You Will Need

  • Professional Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience specializing in Anomaly Detection or Time-Series Forecasting.
  • Software Engineering: Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with Python, along with experience or strong interest in industrial Machine Learning applications.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to deep-dive into complex technical challenges and deliver pragmatic, scalable solutions.
  • Agile Mindset: Passion for working in cross-functional, agile teams across locations to generate real business value.

Our Offer

  • 25 days annual leave + 1 day annual leave after 5 years in the company
  • Meal tickets
  • Additional health insurance
  • A good work life balance with flexible working time
  • A pleasant and diverse environment with regular events, team buildings and stimulating activities
  • A huge array of tools & technologies available on the spot and ready for a steady personal development
  • Variety of opportunities with one of the strongest and largest retail companies in the world
  • You will be part of an international team composed of people from different countries and backgrounds
  • Onboarding and support/mentoring
