Embedded Software Developer (m/f/d) – C++/Linux
As we expand our software platform, we are consistently developing our measurement technology into intelligent diagnostic and analytical solutions for industrial applications. To support this, we are looking for an experienced Software Developer (m/f/d) who will actively help shape our device and application software and contribute their expertise to challenging development projects.
If you enjoy developing modern software solutions, solving technical challenges and working with an interdisciplinary team to create innovative products for international customers, we look forward to getting to know you.
Your responsibilities:
Embedded & Device Software
You develop and optimize the firmware for our laboratory and industrial devices and ensure reliable communication between hardware and software. In doing so, you work on hardware-related functions, measurement data acquisition, and the integration of sensors and measurement electronics, while ensuring high-performance and maintainable device software.
Application Software & User Interfaces
You develop modern desktop applications for controlling and configuring our measurement systems. In addition, you design and implement intuitive user interfaces and meaningful data visualizations that present complex measurement and diagnostic data in a clear and understandable way, providing real added value for our customers.
Backend, Data & Interfaces
You develop software components for processing, storing and providing measurement data. You also implement interfaces and APIs for communication between devices, software platforms and external customer systems, and support the integration of new functions into existing applications.
Software Development & Quality
You support the entire software development process - from the technical implementation of new functions to the continuous optimization of existing applications. Through code reviews, testing and structured development processes, you work together with the team to ensure high software quality and collaborate closely with the hardware development, application and product management teams.
Your profile:
Education
You have completed a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, automation technology or a comparable technical field.
Professional Experience
You have at least three years of professional experience in the development of C++ software under Linux. You have already contributed to larger software projects and worked on tasks ranging from requirements analysis and concept development to implementation, integration and testing.
Ideally, you have experience with industrial, embedded or hardware-related systems that operate reliably over long periods of time and largely without supervision. You are able to analyze existing software, evaluate it from a technical perspective and gradually transfer it into a sustainable new architecture.
Technical Skills
You have very good knowledge of modern C++, preferably C++17 or later, as well as good knowledge of C. You are familiar with modular software development, multithreading, synchronization, resource management and the development of robust applications.
You also have sound experience in software development under Linux. This includes the development of services and background processes, network communication, logging and error handling.
You are able to independently break down larger tasks into maintainable and testable components, services and interfaces. You have experience with databases, backend services and APIs and can store measurement data, configurations, states and historical information in a structured way and make them available for web-based applications.
You are familiar with automated unit, component, integration and regression tests. You are also confident in using version control systems and build systems.
You find it easy to familiarize yourself with hardware-related communication processes and to develop interfaces between Linux systems, measurement hardware and higher-level systems.
Personal Strengths
You work analytically, in a structured manner and on your own responsibility. You are characterized by high quality standards, team spirit and the motivation to actively help shape innovative high-tech products.
Language Skills
Excellent German language skills or native level in German, as well as excellent written and spoken English skills, are essential due to the close collaboration within our development and technical departments.
Desirable Additional Qualifications
Ideally, you already have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS, ThreadX or Zephyr
- Knowledge of Embedded Linux and industrial Linux systems
- Experience with CAN and CAN FD
- Knowledge of industrial fieldbuses and communication protocols
- Experience with measuring devices, test benches or automation systems
- Experience with WebSockets or comparable methods for transmitting live data
- Basic knowledge of React or other web frontend technologies
- Knowledge of Python for test, simulation or analysis tools
- Experience with continuous integration and automated build and test processes
- Knowledge of container technologies
- Knowledge of software update, recovery and rollback procedures
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity for industrial products
- Experience with software for unattended 24/7 operation
Our offer:
- Exciting development projects in the future market of hydrogen
- An innovative working environment with short communication and decision-making paths
- A high-quality, well-equipped workplace including laptop and iPhone
- The option to work flexibly from home or remotely
- Individual training and development opportunities
