As a Confocal Microscopy Engineer, you will contribute to the development, optimisation, and validation of next-generation optical imaging systems. Working across optics, imaging, hardware, and software, you will help improve system performance and deliver advanced measurement solutions for demanding industrial applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise confocal microscopy systems for industrial imaging and measurement applications.
- Improve optical system performance, including resolution, stability, and measurement accuracy.
- Analyse and interpret complex imaging data to support system development and application requirements.
- Support the integration, testing, and validation of optical imaging solutions.
- Develop and improve imaging workflows, measurement methods, and system calibration procedures.
- Investigate technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with optics, software, mechanical engineering, and R&D teams.
- Support customer applications, demonstrations, and technical evaluations where required.
Requirements
- Experience with confocal microscopy, optical imaging systems, or advanced microscopy techniques.
- Strong understanding of optical principles, imaging systems, and photonics technologies.
- Background in Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience analysing and interpreting imaging data.
- Knowledge of image processing, optical characterisation, or measurement techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to engineering challenges.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary development teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with image processing techniques and analysis tools.
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar technical environments.
- Knowledge of automation, motion control, or precision instrumentation.
- Experience developing optical systems for semiconductor, industrial inspection, or precision manufacturing applications.
