Software Engineer - Sensors & UX Tools / User Experience / Frontend / MATLAB / Python / C/C++
Our client is a global leader in semiconductor and wireless technology, and their Sensors Technologies group in Cork is looking for a Systems Software Engineer with a strong focus on UX and frontend tooling.
Please note - this role can be 100% remote from within Ireland
This is a technically rich role sitting at the intersection of embedded systems, data visualisation, and software architecture. You will design and build the software tools and interfaces that support sensor technology research, development, and validation across a broad range of platforms including smartphones, automotive, XR/AR, IoT, and wearables.
What you will be doing:
Working closely with systems, software, and integration engineers, you will own the design and implementation of internal engineering tools, dashboards, and data visualisation interfaces.
You will architect software frameworks using established design patterns (MVC, event-driven, component-based), manage inter-language interfaces between frontend and backend processing layers, and contribute to SOC hardware modelling and toolchain development.
Day-to-day, you can expect to be working across MATLAB and Python for tool development and data processing, writing and maintaining C/C++ code, building robust unit and system tests using frameworks such as Google Test, and interfacing with customers and sensor vendors on new technology demonstrations.
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years in a software engineering role
- Strong experience with MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ for tool development and UI implementation
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and software design patterns
- Experience with data visualisation and engineering dashboard development
- Familiarity with hardware architectures (CPU, GPU, NPU) and RTOS/device driver concepts
- Familiarity with compilers, interpreters, or software toolchains is a plus
- Strong communication skills and an analytical, detail-oriented approach
You must have the Right to Work in Ireland to be considered for this role.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge sensor technology within a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team, with exposure across the full product lifecycle from R&D through to commercial deployment.
