Computer Vision Scientist - American Football
Indexed description
Team Description
The Computer Vision team lies at the heart of our mission to deliver precise and high-quality tracking data for sports. We leverage advanced Deep Learning and state-of-the-art Computer Vision techniques to extract the location, movements, and identity of every player and the ball directly from broadcast video.
American football presents unique computer vision challenges — tracking fast-moving players, handling occlusions, managing complex formations. Your work will directly contribute to pushing these solutions further, at scale and in production.
Role
We are looking for a Computer Vision Scientist to join the American Football Computer Vision team. In this role, you will own and lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cutting-edge algorithms, both autonomously and in collaboration with the team. You are expected to bring solid production experience in deep learning applied to Computer Vision, a strong understanding of the theoretical foundations of the models you build, and the ability to make architectural decisions with real downstream impact.
You will work with tools like PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, and deep learning architectures (CNNs, Transformers, GNNs, etc.) to develop and improve detection, tracking, and recognition algorithms. Beyond implementation, you will contribute to technical roadmap discussions and help raise the bar on engineering and research standards within the team.
This role sits at the intersection of applied research and production — your work will transition from experimentation to live deployment, directly impacting sports teams and organizations worldwide.
Preferred experience
Graduate degree or PhD in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related field
3+ years of hands-on experience in computer vision with deep learning, in a production environment
Strong command of Python for ML/DL — clean, testable, deployable code
Proven experience with detection, tracking, or recognition pipelines (not just research prototypes)
Ability to independently drive technical decisions and defend your choices
Excellent communication skills in English and in French
Knowledge of or genuine interest in American football is a definite plus
