Software Engineer:


NVTS is seeking a Software Engineer with strong Embedded Vision Engineering experience. We are looking for someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments, embraces modern development tools including AI, and enjoys advancing technical innovation across complex projects. The ideal candidate has solid embedded software skills, practical experience with vision systems, and a self‑directed, problem‑solving mindset.


Position: Full-time

Start Date: Immediate

Experience Level: 5+ years in a related engineering role

Location: North Kingstown, RI


What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and optimize embedded C++ applications running on Linux-based systems.
  • Build and integrate video-processing pipelines using tools such as OpenCV, GStreamer, or similar frameworks.
  • Work with NVIDIA Jetson hardware and JetPack SDK to support AI-driven vision features.
  • Integrate sensors, electro-optical cameras, and pan-tilt systems into full end-to-end solutions.
  • Collaborate with a small, cross-functional team where you may serve as the subject matter expert for software development and may define application architecture
  • Evaluate new approaches quickly, pivot when needed, and contribute to accelerating project timelines.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in C++ development for embedded Linux systems.
  • Solid experience with video processing, computer vision, or image-processing tools (such as GStreamer, ONNX and OpenCV).
  • Ability to work independently, conduct technical research, and resolve complex issues without micromanagement.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a relevant engineering role (not entry-level).


Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience/trade background.
  • Experience with NVIDIA JetPack SDK, CUDA tools, or similar AI-accelerated frameworks.
  • Familiarity with GStreamer, FFmpeg, MIPI interfaces, or H.264 encoding techniques.
  • Experience integrating electro-optical cameras, sensors, or pan-tilt mechanisms.
  • Background or exposure to defense-sector systems or requirements.
  • Strong awareness of modern engineering workflows, AI-assisted development, and current technical trends.
