AI Engineer - PE Firm - Up to 250k Base

This is a forward deployed AI Engineer role sitting within a newly formed, dedicated AI team at one of the world's most well-regarded large cap private equity firms.

You will be parachuted into portfolio companies, initially healthcare focused - to assess, design, build, and hand off high-impact AI solutions at pace.

The model is deliberately lean. You will work as part of a small, highly specialized pod alongside an AI Product Manager. Together you are the team. You will be embedded within portfolio companies with full credentials, access, and credibility.

The goal is not to embed indefinitely. It is to get a portfolio company to the point of scaling an AI opportunity and then hand it off - including helping them hire and build their own capability.

Day to day that means assessing AI feasibility during diligence, designing and building LLM workflows, retrieval systems, and agentic applications, developing prototypes against real enterprise data that can evolve into production systems, and working directly with portfolio company technical teams to transfer knowledge and support handoff.

You need to be comfortable talking to executives and frontline users, not just engineers.

The technical bar is high. You need hands-on experience with agentic builds, not just simple RAG use cases. Experience building Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) is essential. Python is expected. LangGraph or similar agentic frameworks, evaluation frameworks, MLflow, and a strong grasp of LLMOps and operationalization at scale are all relevant. Full-stack software engineering background is important - this is a Swiss army knife role, not a narrow specialism.
