Software & AI Engineer

We are looking for a Software & AI Engineer to join the Software Division at ELTA Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

The position includes:

• Developing and implementing Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning models on structured and unstructured data

• Developing and implementing GenAI-based systems

• Developing and implementing classical algorithms and/or hybrid ML/DL/RL solutions

• Optimizing and fine-tuning existing models according to customer requirements

• Collaborating with technical teams, including DevOps and MLOps, to deliver advanced algorithmic solutions

• Maintaining production models, monitoring performance, debugging, and supporting complex integrations

• Staying up to date with the latest AI research and technological advancements and applying them to ongoing projects

• Taking part in innovative defense-related projects with significant operational impact

What we’re looking for:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or Software Engineering – Mandatory

• 1–2 years of experience in Data Science and/or AI Engineering – Mandatory

• Hands-on experience developing and implementing advanced ML/DL models end-to-end, including LLM-based solutions – Mandatory

• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow – Mandatory

• Experience with Version Control tools such as GitHub/GitLab – Mandatory

• Strong analytical skills and ability to read and implement research papers in English – Mandatory

• Experience developing or using RL/DRL-based models – Advantage

• Hands-on experience with Transformer-based models, Autoencoders (AE), and related architectures – Advantage

• Experience deploying ONNX-based models – Advantage

• Strong understanding of GenAI systems including RAG, Prompt Engineering, and Agentic frameworks – Advantage

• Experience developing API layers using FastAPI, Flask, or MCP – Advantage

• Knowledge of C++, C#, SQL, NoSQL, and Linux – Advantage
