AI & Data Scientist (Researcher)

Sompo is looking for a AI & Data Scientist to join its growing analytics and AI team. This role is for early career PhD professionals. Recent PhD graduates, PhD candidates, and master’s graduates who have been accepted into a PhD program will also be considered with different seniority levels such as Assistant Researcher, Part-Time Researcher, or Research Intern.

Must Have

• Early-career PhD professional, recent PhD graduate or PhD student,
• Applied Statistics, Data Science, AI & Data Engineering or related background,
• An analytical mindset,
• A team player, also an independent contributor.

Preferred

• Tubitak or related academic project experience,
• Published academic papers,
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree from a reputable university,
• High GPA,

Responsibilities

Research & Innovation

• Conducting research to adapt and implement contemporary innovations to insurance,
• Contributing to generative AI / LLM business transformations,
• Exploring and utilizing big data environments, languages, and tools.

Collaboration with Business

• Working closely with business and IT while developing analytical solutions to enhance decision-making,
• Actively communicating with business units to identify potential high-value project opportunities,
• Aligning the data science initiatives with the company’s strategic priorities,

Analytical Infrastructure & Operations

• Work with KNIME, SQL, Python, WTW Emblem/Radar, PySpark, Hive and similar tools / languages,
• Supervise and maintain the analytics data warehouse environment,
• Monitor deployed analytics models and ensure their reliability,
• Document solutions and processes for future use,
• Support the productization of data science solutions.
