Software Engineer (Forward Deployed)

San Francisco or NYC (hybrid)

$185,000–$240,000 + Equity

Most software engineers spend their time building products.

This opportunity is different.

You'll work directly alongside leadership teams at high-growth software companies, identifying operational bottlenecks and building AI-powered systems that remove them.

One week you might be automating complex customer onboarding.

The next, redesigning how revenue teams qualify opportunities or helping support teams eliminate thousands of repetitive tasks.

You'll own the entire journey—from understanding the problem through to writing the software, deploying it into production and measuring the impact.

If you enjoy ambiguity, autonomy and seeing your work change how businesses operate, you'll probably love this role.

What we're looking for

We're interested in engineers who naturally sit between software development and problem solving.

You'll probably have:

• 3-6 years building production software
• Strong Python or TypeScript experience
• React and SQL experience
• Experience shipping AI or LLM-powered products into production
• Confidence working directly with customers, users or business stakeholders
• The ability to move comfortably between architecture discussions and writing code

We're much less interested in people who only build features from Jira tickets.

The strongest engineers in this team tend to be people who:

• Think commercially as well as technically
• Enjoy understanding how businesses actually work
• Like working across the whole stack
• Prefer solving messy, real-world problems over polishing perfect code
• Can explain technical concepts to non-technical people without making them feel non-technical

Startup experience, founding engineer experience, Forward Deployed Engineering or Solutions Engineering backgrounds are all relevant, provided you've remained hands-on with software development.
