Standard Job Description

Defines the architecture of autonomous components of LM products or platforms from concept to specifications, recommending and making technical decisions on techniques, and solutions, and how solutions will be integrated and deployed with other systems to meet customer requirements.Provides architectural guidance on autonomous systems on or across project team(s); Defines hardware, software, and systems architecture for (significant components of) autonomous product(s) and platform(s); Interfaces with stakeholders and translates customer requirements into high level technical specifications; Determines technical standards and requirements for software, hardware/tools, and platforms; Participates in architecture reviews and ensures that technical standards and requirements address user needs and constraints; Develops, analyzes, documents technical specifications, and decides on components and design of software, hardware, and system(s); Recommends alternatives to meet or enhance ability to meet requirements for human-machine and/or machine-machine teaming; Defines, communicates, and enforces design standards for autonomy-related components.

The Lockheed Martin Space AI Talent Center is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team of experts in research, data science, software development, physics, and mathematics. As a key member of this team, you will leverage cutting-edge AI/ML and software tools and techniques to tackle the most complex challenges in Space - all in support of our national security.

This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, drive innovation, and contribute to the development of solutions that address critical problems in the Space domain.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated Python development experience
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • TS/SCI clearance required to start

Desired Skills

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and/or tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Front-end development experience using JavaScript
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
  • Experience with RF, SAR or EO image processing algorithms/techniques
  • Experience automating the training, testing, and deployment of machine learning models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
