Junior AI Engineer
Brooksource is seeking a Junior AI Engineer to join our enterprise banking partner’s Platform Reliability team and become part of a cutting-edge initiative driving innovation in AI. As our client spins up a squad to build an AI platform, you'll play a critical role in automating business processes, experimenting with the latest tools, and contributing to an AI-driven future.
On this team, you will write real code that runs in production — not just tutorials and toy projects. Our IT Operations team builds the observability and automation layer that keeps our distributed systems running, and we're looking for an early-career engineer who's curious, coachable, and ready to learn by doing.
You'll work alongside senior engineers and Agile squads shipping instrumentation tooling, alerting pipelines, and automation that directly reduces production incidents. You don't need to know everything on day one — you need to show up, ask good questions, and grow fast.
Key Responsibilities
- AI remediation platforms, agents, and orchestrations.
- Front end and backend systems.
- Logging, monitoring, and alerting tooling across real production services — you'll touch Node.js, Python, and/or Go codebases
- Dashboards and KPI tracking that surface system health to engineering and business teams
- Automation scripts that replace manual steps in incident response and runbooks
- Participation in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations — learning how distributed systems fail and how to prevent it
- Technical documentation and runbooks other engineers use
- Supporting validation and testing of infrastructure and application changes before they hit production
Required Skills
- Required: Working knowledge of at least one of Node.js, Python, or Go — coursework, personal projects, internships, or bootcamp all count
- Academic or personal project experience leveraging artificial intelligence, along with a strong interest in growing your skillset within this emerging space
- Comfort working in a terminal and with Git version control
- Genuine curiosity about how software behaves in production — not just whether it compiles
- Willingness to learn cloud fundamentals (AWS) and DevOps practices on the job
- Strong communication skills — you ask for help clearly and explain what you've tried
Nice to Have (not required)
- Any exposure to monitoring tools: Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar
- Basic AWS or cloud experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts
- Experience reading or writing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
