Job Title: Full Stack Engineer
Job Type: Permanent (Fully On-Site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to help build and scale a data-driven technology platform. Working closely with engineering, data, product and machine-learning colleagues, you will develop the back-end services, APIs, cloud-based data pipelines and customer-facing functionality that support the organisation’s forecasting product.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate ownership of at least one end-to-end software system taken from initial design through to production. Hands-on experience building data pipelines within a cloud environment is also a key requirement.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing business at an early stage, take ownership of meaningful technical challenges and influence how the product and engineering function develop. The role is primarily focused on Python-based back-end and systems development, with some exposure to front-end technologies.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable back-end services and RESTful APIs.
- Take ownership of software systems and features from initial design through development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Build and improve cloud-based data pipelines supporting the ingestion, transformation and delivery of data.
- Develop reliable end-to-end services spanning APIs, data workflows, databases and cloud deployment.
- Build modern web applications and contribute across the wider technology stack where required.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists and product colleagues to deliver new features and platform improvements.
- Develop and improve cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines and engineering tooling.
- Build secure, reliable and maintainable applications capable of supporting a growing customer base.
- Optimise application performance, scalability and system reliability.
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and improve engineering standards and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing and continuous integration and delivery activities.
Experience Required
- Minimum of two years’ commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong commercial experience developing production applications in Python.
- A strong foundation in computer science, software engineering and system design.
- Demonstrable experience building an end-to-end software system or substantial feature from design through to production.
- Hands-on experience designing and building data pipelines within GCP, AWS or Azure.
- Strong understanding of back-end development, RESTful APIs and modern application architecture.
- Experience working with relational databases and scalable application design.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD, version control, testing and production deployment.
- Ability to design, build, deploy and support reliable software solutions while balancing technical quality with business priorities.
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of complex technical problems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working alongside engineering, product or data teams.
- Willingness to contribute across the full stack, although deep front-end expertise is not essential.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Exposure to modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or comparable container technologies.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience with monitoring, logging and observability platforms.
- Familiarity with authentication, security and production-grade application design.
- Exposure to MLOps, machine-learning systems or data-intensive applications.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, serverless services or near-real-time processing.
- Previous experience within a start-up, scale-up, SaaS or product-focused technology environment.
- Evidence of strong personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions or other technically substantial work.
- Interest in progressing towards technical leadership as the engineering team grows.
Educational Requirements
- A third-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Equivalent professional experience and strong practical evidence of software engineering capability will also be considered.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Fully on-site in Dublin City Centre.
- Competitive salary.
- Pension scheme.
- 25 days’ annual leave.
- Company events.
- Working directly alongside CTO and CEO.
- Opportunity to work with modern technologies on complex technical challenges.
- Scope to influence technical architecture, engineering standards and product direction.
- Potential progression towards a Lead Engineer or broader engineering leadership role as the business grows.
