Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze the quality of video delivery across digital platforms and use collected data to enhance video delivery performance.
Plan, design, and evaluate video encoding algorithms, encoding parameters, and
streaming protocols used in MBC’s digital video library.
Optimize video caching strategies to ensure the best possible playback and delivery experience for end users.
Maintain video security and DRM policies, while continuously improving all aspects
of content protection and video security.
Automate encoding, video preparation, and video delivery workflows.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to video delivery, video processing, encoding,
packaging, and preparation for streaming.
Collaborate with engineering, media operations, and product teams to improve video
performance, reliability, and scalability.
Analyze performance metrics and logs to identify bottlenecks, playback issues, latency
problems, and delivery failures.
Keep up to date with emerging technologies, new products, applications, and trends in
the digital media and streaming industry.
Requirements
Strong experience with Python for automation, scripting, data analysis, and workflow
optimization.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS or GCP.
Experience with CI/CD practices and automated deployment workflows.
Good understanding of software engineering principles, debugging, monitoring, and
operational support.
Ability to analyze logs, metrics, and performance data to identify and resolve technical
issues.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work on complex technical problems related to video delivery and streaming.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional
teams.
Experience
Experience with Java.
Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools.
Experience with media streaming, video encoding, packaging, CDN delivery, or OTT
platforms.
Experience with GitLab pipelines.
Knowledge of video streaming protocols such as HLS, DASH, or CMAF.
Familiarity with DRM technologies and content protection workflows.
Experience with CDN behavior, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
Understanding of video codecs, bitrate ladders, adaptive bitrate streaming, and video
quality optimization.
