Software Engineer | Wind Energy Platform | Python • Azure
Indexed description
The project
CODETIQ is developing a wind energy planning platform for a global energy technology company. The system transforms engineering requirements, scientific datasets and geospatial data into feasibility assessments and cost estimates that inform wind farm development decisions. The platform currently supports onshore wind, with offshore capability on the product roadmap.
The domain logic is grounded in engineering calculations and physical modelling. Delivering a feature correctly requires understanding the underlying engineering problem, which makes this a technically demanding product rather than a conventional business application. The platform is undergoing an active phase of modernization and stabilization. Key architectural decisions remain open, offering genuine influence over the technical direction of the product.
How we work
You’ll join a Belgrade-based engineering team collaborating directly with engineering and business stakeholders across Europe. We operate in two-week Scrum sprints with structured planning, refinement and retrospectives, use Azure DevOps for work item and repository management, and conduct all project communication in English. Engineers are involved across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirement analysis through production, and are expected to contribute actively to technical decision-making and to take ownership of the quality of their deliverables.
How we use AI
We follow an AI-first engineering approach: AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows are an integral part of how we design, implement and validate software. Our practices in this area evolve continuously as the tooling matures.
We expect engineers to apply these capabilities with professional rigor: perform thorough problem analysis before implementation, subject all AI-generated output to critical technical review, and retain full accountability for the correctness, test coverage and maintainability of every solution delivered to production.
What you’ll work on
- Design, implement and maintain Python backend services and APIs on Azure, including serverless components
- Design and evolve the data layer: relational schemas, migrations and query performance
- Modernize existing components by improving test coverage, reducing coupling and addressing technical debt
- Develop production pipelines for scientific, engineering and geospatial data
- Translate engineering and business requirements into well-reasoned technical solutions
- Contribute to solution design, technical estimation and code review
- Collaborate directly with international stakeholders on requirements and delivery
Who we’re looking for
- 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience, predominantly in Python
- Strong command of modern Python: type hints, asynchronous programming, data modelling and validation, and current tooling (uv or Poetry, ruff, mypy)
- Production experience with a modern Python framework such as FastAPI, Django or Flask
- Proficiency with relational databases, ORM patterns and schema migrations (SQLAlchemy and Alembic or equivalent)
- Automated testing as an integral part of the development process (pytest)
- Experience designing service-oriented or microservice architectures: API contracts, service boundaries and asynchronous communication
- Working knowledge of containerization and CI/CD practices
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem analysis and requirement validation
- Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken
- A disciplined approach to AI-assisted development, with full accountability for the quality of delivered code
Nice to have
- Cloud: Azure or AWS managed services, serverless architectures, infrastructure as code (CDK, Bicep, Terraform)
- Data and ML: NumPy, pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn or comparable numerical computing experience
- Geospatial: GeoPandas, Shapely, PostGIS, or experience with coordinate systems and spatial queries
- AI engineering: LangChain, RAG pipelines, vector databases
- Domain: renewable energy, power systems, industrial engineering or another engineering-intensive field
Why join CODETIQ
- A product with a clear purpose in renewable energy and technically demanding problems
- Genuine influence over architecture and technical direction during an active modernization phase
- Professional growth in a specialized engineering domain within an experienced team
- Hybrid work model with the CODETIQ team in Belgrade, full-time engagement
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and contribution
