XpertDox is a healthcare technology company in Scottsdale, AZ, focused on reducing the administrative burden of medical coding. Our platform, XpertCoding, applies ensemble machine learning and transformer neural networks to automatically assign ICD and CPT codes, improving accuracy, compliance, and revenue cycle efficiency. We work with large scale clinical data, including EHRs, clinical notes, and claims, to reduce errors and costs while enabling physicians to focus on patient care. As a small, fast moving team, every engineer directly impacts production systems and customer outcomes.

Position Summary

We are seeking an AI Data Scientist to guide and grow our expanding AI/ML team while developing and optimizing machine learning models for clinical documentation and medical coding. This person will set technical direction, mentor team members, and own delivery quality in addition to hands on model work.

Responsibilities

• Guide day to day technical direction for the AI/ML team: assign priorities, review model work, and remove blockers
• Build, train, and deploy machine learning models, including transformer neural networks and ensemble methods
• Mentor and develop team members, including onboarding and pairing new hires
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines in Python
• Work with healthcare datasets, including EHR/EMR, ICD, CPT, and clinical notes
• Design experiments, evaluate models, and document results and decisions for the team
• Collaborate with clinicians and engineers to refine models for production use
• Report on team progress and model performance to leadership

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• 2+ years of hands on experience with transformer neural networks (TNN), including training and fine tuning for production use
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and LightGBM/XGBoost
• Hands on experience with ensemble methods and neural networks
• Strong knowledge of model evaluation techniques
• Prior experience mentoring or leading other data scientists or engineers preferred
• Ability to work full time on site in Scottsdale, AZ
