AI ENGINEER (FULL STACK)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Philippines-based AI Engineer who can build and maintain complete, production-ready applications for a South African technology company.

This is a hands-on software engineering role—not a data science, research, or prototype-only position.

You will work on solutions ranging from new full-stack applications and AI-powered workflow automations to integrations with existing platforms and systems.

You will own your projects from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design, build, and deploy complete applications, including backend services, application programming interfaces, databases, and user-facing interfaces.

• Integrate applications with internal systems, third-party platforms, and external data sources.

• Build generative AI capabilities such as retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool use, streaming, prompt management, and model orchestration.

• Create workflow automations using n8n, custom pipelines, or event-driven architectures.

• Evaluate different large language models based on quality, cost, privacy, and response time.

• Set up logging, error tracking, monitoring, and alerts.

• Investigate production issues and continuously improve application reliability.

• Write secure, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code.

• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms as part of your development workflow.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• At least 2 years of professional experience building and shipping full-stack applications.

• Experience maintaining real production systems—not only proofs of concept or demonstrations.

• Strong backend engineering skills using Python, Node.js with TypeScript, or a comparable language.

• Solid frontend development experience using React, Next.js, or an equivalent framework.

• Hands-on experience integrating generative AI or large language models into production applications.

• Experience working with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, open-source models, or similar technologies.

• Working knowledge of relational or non-relational databases, application programming interface design, and cloud infrastructure.

• Experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or a similar cloud platform.

• Proficiency with Git, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, Docker, and modern deployment practices.

• Clear spoken and written English, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

• Comfortable working remotely from the Philippines and collaborating during agreed overlap hours with the South African team.

• A portfolio or examples of full-stack or generative AI applications you have helped take into production.

HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Experience with n8n, Make, Zapier, or custom workflow orchestration.

• Familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone, Chroma, FAISS, or Qdrant.

• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation architectures, model evaluation, or prompt management at scale.

• Experience using multiple AI agents within a software development workflow.

• Background in consulting, regulated industries, or working across different business sectors.
