Job Title: Akamai Security Engineer (WAF)

Duration: long-term contract

Location: Krakow, Poland (Hybrid – 6 days/month)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Akamai Security Engineer (WAF) to support the onboarding, implementation, and management of web applications on the Akamai platform. The role involves configuring and tuning WAF security policies, securing web applications, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with application, infrastructure, network, and security teams. Candidates with experience in comparable enterprise WAF platforms are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end onboarding of web applications onto the Akamai platform.
• Configure, implement, and optimise Akamai WAF security policies.
• Provide production support for WAF environments and assist with incident response.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
• Experience with application onboarding and WAF policy configuration.
• Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, DNS, Load Balancing, Reverse Proxy, REST APIs, and OWASP Top 10.
• Experience with Akamai App & API Protector (AAP), Kona Site Defender, Bot Manager, and Edge DNS.
• Experience with Cloudflare WAF, F5 Advanced WAF, Imperva, AWS WAF, Azure WAF, Prisma Cloud WAAS, or similar enterprise WAF solutions.
