About the job

Join DC Smarter – working on DC Vision.

DC Smarter builds DC Vision – a platform for managing data centers, server rooms and technical sites. It combines mobile app, server backend, real time data, AI and 3D/AR to give full visibility and control over infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer with broad technical knowledge across different infrastructure areas.

We are not looking for a narrow specialist who knows only one technology very deeply.

The strongest fit is someone who already has a solid infrastructure background and wants to expand further into deployment automation, CI/CD and DevOps practices.

We see DevOps and automation as skills that can be developed further. What we need from the beginning is strong infrastructure understanding and real experience solving infrastructure problems.

We are also not looking for people who only maintain existing environments through predefined procedures.

The role requires understanding, investigation, adaptation and solving problems in different client infrastructures.

The goal is to take DC Vision and make it work in real client environments end-to-end.

This is hands-on infrastructure and deployment work around installations, integrations, automation and troubleshooting. It is not a support or software development role.

Role

Location: Bulgaria

Work setup: Home office / Hybrid

Contract: Full-time, labour contract

Citizenship: Only Bulgarian citizens. Others will not be considered.

Language: Comfortable working fully in English daily

Start: ASAP

What you will do

  • Install and configure DC Vision in client environments
  • Work on server-side setup, integrations and connectivity
  • Connect the mobile application, backend and client infrastructure
  • Handle deployments, updates and environment setup
  • Work directly with client IT teams during implementations
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, network and application deployment issues
  • Understand unfamiliar client environments and how the different parts fit together
  • Investigate technical issues across systems instead of only one component
  • Support handover to the support team after implementation
  • Support the sales team with technical input when needed, without direct sales responsibility
  • Work with automated application deployment, testing and release processes
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Work with Linux, Python-based applications, Docker and related deployment technologies

This role is not based on receiving a list of small predefined tasks and waiting for the next one.

You may receive an implementation such as:

"We need to deploy DC Vision for this client."

From there, you need to understand the client environment, identify what is required, find missing information, coordinate with the right people, investigate problems and move the implementation toward a working result.

There will always be things you do not know and support from the team when needed.

But we expect you to stay involved instead of stopping as soon as your immediate task is completed.

What we are looking for

This is not a junior role.

We are looking for someone with real hands-on infrastructure experience and a good understanding of infrastructure as a whole.

You should be comfortable with Linux, virtualization, networking, connectivity, troubleshooting and deployment of systems in real environments.

The environments can be on-prem, VMware-based, cloud-based or hybrid depending on the client.

We do not expect you to be the strongest specialist in every area.

What matters is that when you look at an infrastructure problem, you understand how the different parts connect and know where and how to investigate.

Strong infrastructure experience is mandatory.

You should already be comfortable with:

  • Daily Linux administration and troubleshooting
  • Services, packages, updates and logs
  • Network interfaces and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Virtual machines, templates and virtualization platforms
  • Routing, firewall, DNS and VPN related troubleshooting
  • Command line tools and system troubleshooting
  • Understanding client infrastructure and adapting deployments to different environments
  • Application deployment and environment configuration
  • Docker and container-based deployments
  • Working with Python-based applications from an infrastructure and deployment perspective
  • Troubleshooting problems across multiple systems and layers

DevOps and automation

Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, YAML automation, Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies is strongly preferred, but it is not the main requirement.

We would rather hire someone with strong infrastructure knowledge and troubleshooting experience who still needs to develop some DevOps skills than someone with strong CI/CD knowledge but limited infrastructure understanding.

You should be interested in developing further in:

  • Azure DevOps and Git
  • CI/CD pipelines and YAML-based automation
  • Automated application deployment and testing
  • Release management
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Terraform and Ansible
  • Deployment automation

We can develop these skills together.

Self-drive

Self-drive is extremely important for this role.

We do not expect you to know everything. We do expect you to actively find your way forward.

When you face something you do not know, the normal approach should be to:

  • investigate
  • read documentation
  • check logs
  • test
  • ask questions
  • find the right person
  • collect the missing information
  • come back with findings or possible solutions

Not knowing something is normal.

Waiting without trying to move the problem forward is not how this team works.

We value people who stay engaged beyond their assigned task, look for what needs to happen next and help others when they can.

Team fit

How you work with the team is just as important as your technical knowledge.

We believe strong teams are built through trust, communication, knowledge sharing and people helping each other.

You should be willing to ask for help when needed and notice when someone else needs help.

Technical depth is important, but it is not the only thing we evaluate.

Someone with a strong foundation, the right attitude and the ability to learn and work well with the team can be a better fit than a stronger specialist who prefers to work in isolation.

We want people who contribute to the team result, not only their individual task.

Client communication

Client communication is mandatory for this role.

You should be comfortable speaking directly with client IT teams through meetings, calls and written communication.

English is non-negotiable.

You do not need to be a native speaker, but you must be comfortable discussing technical topics naturally and clearly in English.

You will need to understand technical information, ask questions, explain problems and coordinate next steps.

Ownership

Ownership is very important for this role.

The work involves understanding the client environment, coordinating with different technical teams and moving the implementation forward end-to-end.

We are looking for people who stay engaged with a problem until it is solved and do not treat every task as an isolated responsibility.

Sometimes solving the problem means investigating another system, talking to another team, finding missing information or helping another person complete their part.

The important thing is that the overall implementation keeps moving.

What success looks like

After the initial onboarding, we expect you to take a client implementation, understand the environment, identify what is needed and drive the technical deployment toward a working result.

You should gradually become comfortable managing a large part of the technical implementation independently while still working closely with the team.

Success does not mean knowing every answer immediately.

It means taking an unclear technical situation, understanding it step by step, involving the right people and keeping it moving until the problem is understood and solved.

This role will probably not be a good fit if you:

  • want to work only with one specific technology
  • prefer receiving only clearly predefined tasks
  • prefer waiting for instructions before starting the next step
  • do not want direct client communication
  • are looking for a pure software development role
  • are looking for a pure DevOps role focused mainly on pipelines and automation
  • prefer working mainly in stable environments with established procedures
  • expect someone else to investigate the wider problem and tell you exactly what to change
  • prefer to work mostly independently from the rest of the team

Important

We do not expect you to know DC Vision.

We will teach you the product.

We also do not expect you to arrive as a complete DevOps engineer.

What matters first is having the right infrastructure foundation, troubleshooting mindset, ownership, self-drive and ability to work as part of the team.

The DC Vision specific knowledge and additional DevOps and automation skills can be learned.

Work style

  • Hands-on technical work
  • Broad infrastructure work instead of one narrow technology
  • Real client environments
  • Real troubleshooting
  • Deployment and automation
  • Direct communication with technical teams
  • High level of ownership and self-drive
  • International team based in Germany and Bulgaria

Interview process

The process includes two interviews.

The first interview is focused on your technical background, infrastructure experience, troubleshooting approach, communication style and how you work as part of a team.

The second interview is technical and directly with the CTO and senior technical people from the team.

We are looking for people who understand how infrastructure works, can find their way through unfamiliar environments and solve problems when things break.

What you can expect

  • Real work with a modern product combining mobile, backend, AI and AR
  • Direct work with real client environments
  • Broad infrastructure exposure
  • Opportunity to grow further into DevOps and automation
  • Learning a complex system end-to-end
  • Direct work with experienced technical people
  • Stable full-time role
