Microsoft Security & Data Security Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Security & Data Security Specialist with strong hands-on expertise across the Microsoft security ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 security technologies.

This is a highly technical role requiring practical experience designing, implementing, configuring and operating Microsoft security and data protection solutions within complex enterprise environments.

You will play a key role in strengthening our cybersecurity and data protection capabilities, with particular focus on data classification, information protection, Data Loss Prevention, identity security, threat detection, cloud application security, insider risk, compliance and security monitoring.

You will work closely with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, data, risk, privacy, compliance and business teams to ensure Microsoft security technologies are appropriately designed, integrated and operationalised.

The ideal candidate combines deep Microsoft technical capability with a strong understanding of information security, data governance, regulatory requirements and enterprise risk.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, engineering or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Relevant Microsoft certifications will be highly regarded, including:

• Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert

• Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate

• Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate

• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate

• Microsoft Azure Security-related certifications

• Advantageous: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, GIAC certifications

Required Experience

Candidates should have approximately 5–10 years of professional IT or cybersecurity experience, with substantial hands-on experience in Microsoft security technologies. Essential experience includes:

• Strong Microsoft 365 security experience.

• Strong hands-on Microsoft Purview experience.

• Strong Microsoft Defender experience.

• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel.

• Strong Microsoft Entra ID security knowledge.

• Experience implementing Data Loss Prevention.

• Experience with information classification and sensitivity labels.

• Experience with endpoint security.

• Experience with identity and access security.

• Experience with security monitoring and incident investigation.

• Experience working in enterprise Microsoft environments.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical capability.

• Experience implementing security controls in production environments.

• Experience working with cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud and application teams.
