🚀 Cloud Infrastructure DevOps Automation Engineer |
Kubernetes Operators, FluxCD & OpenStack | CobaltCore AI-Native Control Planes |
🌍 Remote | 📄 Contract of Employment / B2B Contract |
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Automation Engineer to join a high-caliber engineering team building and scaling CobaltCore – a Kubernetes-native OpenStack Control Plane across a multi-cluster topology (Management, Control Plane, Hypervisor, Storage). Operating around a family of Kubernetes operators (Keystone, Glance, and further OpenStack services) following a shared reconciler pattern (Operator SDK, controller-runtime, Kubebuilder), this platform is orchestrated by the c5c3-operator and delivered via GitOps (FluxCD).
You will work closely with architects to build reusable operator automations, improve E2E testing, and maintain world-class technical documentation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Taking E2E ownership of building, maintaining, and scaling Kubernetes-native platform components (CobaltCore/C5C3) and reusable operator automations.
- Running Kubernetes operators and implementing GitOps delivery patterns with FluxCD across multi-cluster environments.
- Writing requirements and reviewing translated technical designs, implementation tasks, and platform guidelines.
- Improving the onboarding of new operators (e.g., Keystone, Horizon, Glance) onto the shared reconciler scaffolding.
- Implementing security-by-design, least privilege, and compliance standards across secure software delivery workflows.
- Providing AI guidance on Kubernetes operator patterns, CRD design, FluxCD-based GitOps, and OpenStack control-plane operations.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven commercial background (8+ YoE) in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Deep consultant mindset: ability to propose innovations, write clear technical documentation (Markdown), guide non-technical audiences, and drive operational excellence under pressure.
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes-native platform technologies, CRDs, sub-reconciler patterns, webhooks, and finalizers.
- Proven experience with GitOps concepts and Git-based delivery workflows (FluxCD).
Must-Haves:
- Practical experience building Kubernetes operators/controllers (Operator SDK, controller-runtime, Kubebuilder).
- Expertise in IaaS, Kubernetes, and Crossplane infrastructure automation.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting, preferably with Go (or other major programming languages).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions-based development workflows.
- Experience with Kubernetes-native testing frameworks (envtest, Chainsaw E2E, Tempest, Chaos Mesh).
- Very good English for daily international collaboration.
Location & Working Setup:
- Hybrid Work Model (Belgrade, Serbia).
