NOC/SOC Support Engineer

Network Operations & Security Operations | Broadcast Technology

Level:Mid-level | Experience: 4–5 Years| Location:Serbia | Reports To: NOC Manager

evision / STARZPLAY is a leading streaming service, delivering thousands of Hollywood blockbusters, live sports, Live Channels, TV series. Our broadcast and technology teams operate a 24×7 live streaming and OTT delivery infrastructure built on ATEME media services, high-availability network architecture, and cloud-native monitoring systems.

We are seeking a skilled NOC/SOC Support Engineer to join our Network & Security Operations Centre, contributing to the reliability, security, and performance of our live and on-demand streaming services.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The NOC/SOC Support Engineer is responsible for real-time monitoring, incident response, and first/second-line troubleshooting across EPTG / evision's broadcast, network, and cloud infrastructure. You will work within a follow-the-sun shift model, ensuring continuous service availability for our OTT platform and live channel distribution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Broadcast & OTT Monitoring

  • Monitor 24×7 live channel feeds, OTT origin/CDN delivery health, and CMAF/HLS/DASH stream quality using video monitoring walls and IPTV monitoring tools
  • Detect and respond to signal loss, pixelation, audio dropouts, bitrate anomalies, and encoder faults across MediaLive, MediaPackage v2, and MediaConnect pipelines
  • Manage and triage alerts from AWS CloudWatch, Grafana dashboards, and third-party monitoring platforms.
  • Validate GOP alignment, segment boundaries, and CMAF ingest health; escalate encoder or origin misconfigurations to the broadcast engineering team
  • Coordinate with Multicast, ZIXI, SRT, and RTSP republish workflows; identify parameter-set handling issues and video wall feed loss

Incident Management & Response

  • Own incident triage, classification, and first-response actions per defined SOPs and runbooks
  • Perform root-cause analysis for recurring outages, stream degradation events, and security alerts
  • Escalate P1/P2 incidents to on-call engineers and NOC Manager with structured incident reports
  • Manage and document incidents end-to-end in the ITSM ticketing system (Salesforce / Jira)
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute findings to knowledge base articles and runbook updates

Network & Infrastructure Support

  • Monitor LAN/WAN/WLAN health, BGP/MPLS circuit status, and inter-office connectivity across all EPTG / evision locations
  • Support VPN tunnel health (IPSec/SSL), firewall policy reviews, and network segmentation checks
  • Perform packet capture analysis using Wireshark/tcpdump to diagnose upstream packet loss, jitter, and latency issues on live contribution and distribution links
  • Assist with Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switch diagnostics, interface utilisation, and VLAN troubleshooting

Security Operations

  • Monitor alerts, threat intelligence feeds, and endpoint detection events during assigned shift
  • Assist with vulnerability scan reviews, patching status dashboards, and security posture reporting

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of experience in a NOC, SOC, or broadcast operations environment
  • Proven experience supporting 24×7 live streaming or broadcast operations is strongly preferred

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AWS Elemental services (MediaLive, MediaPackage, MediaConnect) or equivalent live video encoding/packaging platforms
  • Familiarity with OTT streaming protocols: HLS, DASH, CMAF, RTMP, SRT, RTSP
  • Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, VPN (IPSec/SSL)
  • Experience with packet analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump) for live stream and network troubleshooting
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation and alert triage
  • Experience with monitoring platforms: Grafana, CloudWatch, Nagios, or similar
  • English as a second language is a must.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure, time-critical broadcast environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for shift handover, incident reporting, and stakeholder updates
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Team-oriented with ability to work across broadcast, cloud, network, and IT teams

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+ / Security+ or equivalent
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification
