Machine Learning (AI Analyst)

We are seeking a Machine Learning Machine Learning (AI Analyst) to support the design and development of analytical data products and services that enable better leverage of data assets and implementation of the Data Strategy. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality data modeling, algorithm development, de-identification, synthetic data creation, visualizations, and evidence development for use across government ministries and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an expert who plays a fundamental role in enacting the pillars of the Data Strategy by using data to benefit the public through a coordinated, one-government approach to data governance and service delivery.

The Machine Learning Machine Learning (AI Analyst) will provide hands-on support, leadership, advice, and direction on strategic data initiatives. Key responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external clients to understand analytics needs, creating tools and models that apply artificial intelligence to improve government policy and services, and working with cross-functional project teams to apply machine learning. The role encompasses machine learning model development, artificial intelligence, data analysis, data science, data engineering, data modeling, statistical analysis, and data product design and delivery. The specialist will help teams identify when and how to apply ML, facilitate and mentor others in ML application, select appropriate ML tools and infrastructure, create data collection and normalization procedures, train models for specific domains, conduct ML-driven analyses of large datasets, develop auditing and accountability mechanisms for ML capabilities, work within privacy legislation, and provide ethical guidance on ML implementation. Additional responsibilities include analyzing and organizing raw data for prescriptive and predictive modeling, supporting full-stack data analytics or AI applications, providing expertise in analytic project design, conducting complex data analysis, and gathering and documenting client requirements.

Qualifications
- 6 years of experience and comprehensive skills in using statistical and computer languages, such as R, Python, SQL
- 6 years of experience in building analytical and quantitative analysis models
- 6 years of experience in preparing data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
- 6 years of experience with and understanding of different approaches and methods for data analytics and data science, such as complex statistical modeling
- 6 years of experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) applied to data science or analytics, such as using ML for anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, or AI-assisted data transformation and automation
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study, or equivalent qualifications

Nice to Have
- 5 years of experience and knowledge of data sharing, data-linkage, de-identification, metadata, data quality, ethics, synthetic data, and data literacy and how to promote use of government data
- 5 years of experience combining raw data from a variety of data sources within and across domains
- 5 years of experience in understanding complex business questions and framing the right analytical question to solve a business problem
- 5 years of experience preparing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models
- 6 years of experience with and understanding of statistical and data mining techniques to address key business issues
- 4 years of experience working with large government datasets
