About the Role

As a Security Engineer Lead – Safe Browsing / Threat Detection, you will lead a team of approximately 10 technical professionals while supporting security operations focused on identifying and preventing online threats.

This role combines technical leadership, security analysis, data-driven investigation, stakeholder management, and people management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of technical process analysts and specialists.
  • Manage workload distribution, team performance, and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with multiple cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor SLAs and act as a key contact for workflow risks and issues.
  • Review documented processes and playbooks and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform technical audits/reviews of code changes from L3 and L4 engineers.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify harmful entities, trends, patterns, and system vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct static and dynamic analysis of potential phishing, malware, and social engineering threats.
  • Support risk management and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Apply data-driven analysis to improve threat detection and prevention.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, web security analysis, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong experience querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL.
  • Experience with data-focused programming such as Python.
  • Knowledge of the internet threat landscape, particularly phishing, malware, or website vulnerabilities.
  • 2+ years of people management and performance management experience.
  • Experience leading or managing technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.


Good-to-Have

  • Knowledge of OWASP vulnerabilities and/or Exploit Kits.
  • Linux operating system experience.
  • Shell/batch scripting experience.
  • Statistical analysis experience using tools such as R, Stata, or SAS.
  • Experience conducting technical reviews or audits.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to different audiences.
  • Experience managing competing stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced environment.
