Vice President of Cybersecurity
Indexed description
Job type: Perm
Salary: $210,000 to $275,000 base plus performance bonus (DOE)
Role Location: Florida (Hybrid or Onsite) preferred. Remote considered nationally for the right leader.
The company: Signify Technology is retained on a confidential search for a Vice President of Cybersecurity. Our client is an established, growing organization that has outgrown a security function built for a smaller company and is now investing in executive-level ownership of it. This is a build-and-lead seat, reporting into the CIO, CTO, or executive leadership, with accountability for the security strategy, the budget, the tooling, and the team. Because this is a confidential search, the client is named on a first conversation. Senior leaders who would like to understand the opportunity before formally applying are welcome to reach out directly and we will handle the conversation discreetly.
Role And Responsibilities
- Own the enterprise cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, and budget, and present both to the executive team and the board.
- Lead, grow, and retain the security organization, including hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Own the security operations function: detection, monitoring, incident response, and threat intelligence.
- Direct the identity and access management program, including privileged access and zero-trust initiatives.
- Own governance, risk, and compliance across the frameworks relevant to the business (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or equivalent).
- Lead the incident response program end to end, including tabletop exercises, escalation paths, and post-incident review.
- Set standards for cloud security, application security, and secure development practices in partnership with engineering.
- Own third-party and vendor risk management, security tooling evaluation, and contract negotiation.
- Build the security awareness program and drive a security culture across the wider business.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for auditors, regulators, cyber insurers, and enterprise customers.
- 10 or more years in cybersecurity, with 5 or more years leading security teams at manager, director, or above.
- Proven ownership of an enterprise security strategy and its budget, not just execution against someone else's.
- Track record of building, leading, and retaining a security team.
- Deep, hands-on background in security operations, incident response, and identity and access management.
- Demonstrated experience taking an organization through a recognized framework or audit (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, or HIPAA).
- Strong cloud security expertise across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience presenting risk to executives and boards in business terms rather than technical ones.
- Excellent judgment under pressure and a track record of leading through a live incident.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Executive ownership of the security function, its budget, and its roadmap
- A team you build and lead directly
- Direct line to the executive team and board exposure
